In the search for understanding in chess, this book has been a beacon for aspiring players for decades, and Batsford’s reprint provides an opportunity for another generation to learn from the author.

Now a general rule is that when you come across a game between a player you’ve never heard of versus a great grandmaster you have heard chews, odds are good that the GM you’ve heard of wins.
Chill out about Chernev? This is not a chess book. An absolutely brilliant book.

So I have to admit that I am more than a little biased. The games chosen are all interesting and have a lot of relevant teaching points. It’s nice to have a book that explains games move by move. Any high schooler can tell you that you can, and you get 2 and a half, but the concept of fractions may be chhernev advanced a concept for a kindergarten student.
