But it did very little for me other than supply a couple of eye-rolls and chuckles, with the occasional snippet of historical information I thought interesting enough to explore further online. It had a potential as a good philosophy book if La Vey didn’t add szatama rituals and symbols in it.

Satanists believe that religion has turned mankind into passive sheep, and seek to undo the “damage” they feel religion has caused. While he is correct in pointing out the hypocrisies in religion as moral code, Christianity’s in particular, LaVey’s worldview implemented on a large scale would most likely be devastating to society.
It would seem that if most people were taught the ethics of altruism, this would be the best situation for the egoist. It’s like a dumbed-down version of Rand’s Atlas Shrugged and Nietzsche’s Antichrist, but with less substance. The references to demons, appeals to individuality, and advocacy of recreational sex all combine into szataana package that influence you, the rebellious young seeker after forbidden knowledge–a budding Faust, in your own mind–to take the book home and read it as inconspicuously as possible.
The book serves as the main thesis statement for the Church of Satan, which is not so much a church nor is it really about Satan.
Much of the details are seemingly there for shock value, and not so much for actual point. Ron Hubbard and a Jack Chick tract in terms of worth.
But the latter part of the book starts putting a lot of pseudoscience to use and starts to contradict with the first part. LaVey was obviously a very intelligent man. The language was too pompous for me. Not to mention, his entire autobiography is a work of pure fiction, with wild stories ranging from him sleeping with Marilyn Monroe, to becoming the “official organ player” of San Francisco.
The compassionate emotions will always thrive in the mind until you have fulfilled what you feel is an obligation to help that person in the natural manner. I want to burn this book. He relied heavily on the ideas of a handful of authors who went before him, notably Ayn Rand, Friedrich Nietzsche, and Aleister Crowley. It’s a great concept, but LaVey is a man of theatrics and exaggeration, not to mention a man who allowed Marilyn Manson to be an honorary priestand that’s what kept this philosophy from remaining a philosophy.
I’m sure it laveh scandalize a churchy lavfy, but it didn’t do much for me. This is one reason why ethicist Russ Shafer-Landau has pointed out the Ethical Egoism seems to imply that we should discriminate against people.
The incongruity exists because this section is plagiarized from Might is Righta fascist manifesto from the late nineteenth century. But honestly, that’s old news.
You get the point. Anton LaVey has also stated, that because this book had to reach the market quickly, the quality of composition may be insatisfactory and seemingly amateurish at times, because the verbose language does not correspond too well anton szandor lavey biblia szatana the arrangement. The rest of the book hypocritically spends its time chasing after rabid superstitions, as if this does not stand in direct contradiction to its supposed humanistic materialism.
However the need to couch philosophy as religion – with the Nike logo “Satanism” – isn’t one of them. It is here in these pages where Christianity is most effectively taken to task for its failure to sufficiently identify and embrace core humanity.
